Oppo is one of the largest smartphone brands based in China. It has a market of its own spreading across different price ranges and specifications that makes it accessible for people looking for a budget category phone to a smartphone that offers high-end specifications for gaming and other purposes. Oppo hasn’t been shy of innovating as well and has brought a number of concepts to commercial use such as rotating camera module or say a full-screen display from the motorized front and rear camera module and whatnot.

Oppo is currently gearing up to launch a new phone lineup while getting ready for the Android 10 from Google which is a successor to Android Pie. The Android 10 brings a plethora of features on-board such as a dark mode which is system-wide, support to 5G networks and foldable displays that are some of the hottest technologies that are in the making. The new OS which hasn’t been named officially yet will also bring plenty of features strengthening its privacy and security sector towards the users by uplifting the permission-based system as well.

Earlier, reports claimed a number of monikers commencing with the letter ‘Q’ that Google could choose such as Quesito, Quintim, Qottab, etc which are all names of deserts around the globe, however, Google launched the new OS as Android 10 and will stick to numbering upcoming OSes henceforth.

According to the timeline, Google has already reached beta of Android 10 which is now available for selected smartphones including Oppo Reno. The stable version was released on September 3rd and it was made available for installation in Pixel and Essential Phones the same day followed by all other partnered devices in a few weeks.

Android 10 Features

Gesture Navigation: Use your fingers to flick between apps by dragging the slick slider side-to-side. Use the right and left edges to go back to the previous menu, page, etc with the new but optional Gesture Navigation system.

Sound Amplifier: The new built-in Sound Amplifier functionality on Android 10 offers a greater level of noise reduction and improved sound bass and quality over wired headphones or earphones.

New HEIF depth camera support: Android 10 now supports a new file format called HEIF that’ll allow it to store still images and AR images taking up less space allowing more photos to store seamlessly. It can also capture and store monochrome images natively.

Smart Reply: You might have already got a glimpse of it on Gmail but now with Android 10, it is available across all Google apps and plenty of messaging apps at your disposal. It can also predict some actions as suggestions based on the context.

Live Caption: Be it audio or video or any audio recording or say podcasts, Live Caption can transcribe anything and that’ll all at real-time.

Control over Privacy & Location: Android 10 offers a strengthened privacy, security and location control as you can actually see the web and app activity, personal data, and change the privacy settings, alter the permissions granted to any apps, choose whether to give access to location to any app either entirely or when in use or never at all.

Google Play Store System updates: One of the best things that came bundled with Android 10 is the fact that now Google will send out security updates monthly through Google Play Store. This will eradicate the need to have OEMs or carriers look after the security updates and a few bug fixes although the traditional updates via OTA will continue.
